I have been telecommuting

I have been telecommuting for almost three years now from Kansas City. Meeting Owl has made a huge difference in my ability to communicate with my co-workers and engage with other remote workers around the country. So simple; plug it in, turn it on, meet via your favorite software. Read more about my experience with the Meeting Owl here

Typical video conferencing cameras

Typical video conferencing cameras put your remote teammates at a disadvantage. Think about it — you can’t hear, you can’t see faces and body language, and thus it’s near impossible to follow the conversation. That’s a terrible experience.

How does the Meeting Owl fix this? The Meeting Owl is a 360° intelligent video conferencing camera. It learns where everyone is sitting in the room and then auto-focuses on a person when he or she starts speaking. It’s like magic. (Or really … robotics!)

Remote employees finally feel included in the meeting because they can see and hear everyone. It’s a much more engaging experience.

Introducing A New Experience in Conferencing and Remote Meetings

The idea for the Meeting Owl was born when Owl Labs’ co-founder and CTO Mark Schnittman was working remotely for a startup in Las Vegas while living in Boston. As one of the only remote employees, meeting and working with a group of people sitting together was incredibly painful. It was hard to see what was going on, difficult to hear what people were saying, and a challenge to actively contribute.

It became clear that current video conferencing tools are not optimized for remote participants and don’t provide them with a helpful, inclusive experience. Technologies today often leave remote employees feeling like a “fly on a wall” or a mere lurker during in-person team meetings. That’s not right.

He recognized the need for an intelligent conferencing camera that met the requirements of today’s workforce. Whether it is a single remote worker at a remote location or a team of people in a conference room. From that need, the Meeting Owl was born.

While there’s no

While there’s no substitute for face-to-face, Owl Labs’ new product is the best immersive conferencing tool we’ve seen. Conversations are much more natural. It has improved our cross-coastal communications and brought us a significant step closer to the face-to-face experience.

Great audio is

Great audio is essential to having an effective distributed meeting, and this is the best audio device we’ve found. Owl Labs’ new approach to video also has a huge wow-factor. These two features combined make our remote engineers more effective and included.
